The Genealogy of Violence: Reflections on Creation, Freedom, and Evil
Bellinger, Charles K. (Sessional Lecturer in Theology and Ethics, Sessional Lecturer in Theology and Ethics, Regent College, Vancouver, Canada)
This work draws on the thought of Soren Kierkegaard and Rene Girard in search of a Christian understanding of the roots of violence. The author uses Kierkegaard's idea of sin to argue that the basic motive that impels human beings towards acts of violence is a refusal to grow spiritually.
