Mapping a Buddha's Mind: Indian Buddhist Thought in the Theravada, Sarvastivada, and Yogacara Abhidharma
Rupert Gethin
The Buddhist Abhidharma literature represents the attempts of early Buddhist thinkers to systematize the discourses of the Buddha to produce a coherent statement of Buddhist thought. This volume argues that their taxonomies and theories of the mind and body can be usefully regarded as analogous to maps for following the Buddhist path to awakening.
