New York soap opera star, Kate Caldwell is in a coma. Actually, Amanda Rogers-Norton-Winters-Norton, the character she plays on The Gallant and the Gorgeous, is in a coma. Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding with her producers, Kate is being punished by being written out of the show for an entire month. Heeding a call for help from an old friend, the flamboyant actor Jordan Dugan, Kate heads west to perform in the, The Fantasticks. As soon as Kate arrives at the newly renovated theatre in Arizona odd occurrences begin. When one of the actors is murdered Kate is determined to find out the truth. Did the ingénue kill to keep her affair with the married leading man a secret? Would the Musical Director commit murder rather than hear his score ruined? What hold did the murdered woman have over the Producer? With the help of Jordan and the handsome Detective O'Brien, Kate puts her life at risk to unmask a killer. After all, the show must go on.
