1844-Belle Bradbury, a thirty-three year old widow and her two grown daughters, Iris and Heather reluctantly brave The Horn to arrive in Yerba Buena (San Francisco) a Mexican hamlet. Johnny Bradbury, (the girl's uncle) now Don Ricardo, introduces them to the resplendent life and love afforded him by marrying a daughter of the country.
