Early in their lives, Parker Thomas and Sarah Nevels had all the exuberance college sweethearts could have. Their relationship flourished, despite their different rearing, and the pair was passionately involved when their bond was interrupted. Sarah had become pregnant. She was just a sophomore, and Parker was a senior ready to embark on the business world. Sarah, confused, and yielding to a strong parental influence, severed the relationship with Parker and began an estrangement that not only took a father away from his daughter, but also deprived Sarah of the only love she had known. Now, twenty-eight years later, Parker, a successful businessman who has grown accustomed to being alone, has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. His dying wish is that he gets to know his only child, Kelly Nevels, who is, unbeknownst to Parker, living with the discernment that her father had died shortly after her birth. With his illness at the forefront and his existence waning, Parker has to find a way to cultivate a family relationship with The Nevels Girls, who have, over the last 28 years, become comfortable living as a close-knit mother-daughter dyad.
