Robert Barnes. The gleanings in this volume, a companion to the author's Gleanings from Maryland Newspapers, 1776-1785, also include a few Maryland items found in Pennsylvania newspapers. Marriages, deaths, legal notices, notices concerning the settlement of estates, lost heirs who were sought, and ads of genealogical value are among the items abstracted in this volume. The entries are arranged in alphabetical order and include the name of the newspaper and date of issue from which the information was abstracted. A full name index lists those people "buried" in notices of individuals with different surnames.
