In these extraordinary lectures, Steiner explicates the manifold ways in which the so-called dead participate continuously in the lives of those on Earth. He begins by using concrete examples to establish the fact that the boundary between the physical and spiritual worlds is "right in the middle of the Human being." It is in the gap between the "sensory," or motor, nerves. According to Rudolf Steiner, there are not two kinds of nerves but only one, divided by a gap, or interruption, that is in fact the boundary between physical and spiritual realities.

Within this gap is the realm of "feeling," which we as human beings mostly sleep through. Moreover, there the spiritual world and the world of the dead play continuously into our lives on Earth. This is also where the potential for freedom exists, especially the freedom to recognize the Christ. Through understanding and learning to live out of the gap between sensory and suprasensory worlds in a new way, a new possibility arises--the ability of those living on Earth to work with those who have died, as well as the Christ being.

All those readers who have worked with Christopher Bamford's popular book, Staying Connected will find here much new food for thought, inspiration, and practices.
