This is the second of two volumes presenting all seven parts of Francis Parkmans' monumental narrative history of the struggle for control of the American contient. Thirty years in the writing, Parkman's "history of the American forest" is an accomplishment hardly less awesome than the explorations and adventures he so vividly describes. This volume tells how France nearly won her imperial struggle with England and how she lost it. Despite Canada's brilliance under the governor Count Frontenac, England's American colonies flourish while France's decline.
