Nattie is a caretaker, a role she learned in her dysfunctional/alcoholic family. The caretaker role makes her a unique detective as she uses her skills to get people to open up to her. But the caretaker role has a down side too. Nattie has a tendency to collect men who cannot take care of themselves.
