Young Danny is bored on his family's vacation and slips away to explore a mysterious forest where he encounters a secret world of fairies -- as imagined by an eleven-year-old author -- and joins them in an epic battle with evil.

At first Danny only babysits Dolly -- a snippy fairy youngster -- but with mutual trust building, the fairies shrink him to size and introduce him to their tiny village. Danny begins a double life, moving between his parents in town and his new friends in the forest.

Back at his hotel, Danny knows something's not right. Probably the first sign is the beetle soup. He soon suspects he is being stalked by a suspicious man and his creepy son, and he's right. They're using him to get to the fairies! In a enchanting new world of exotic potions, ancient spells, a magic locket, and a charmed sword, Danny learns to fly. The fairies warn him of trouble ahead -- yet they need his help against an ancient foe.
