This booklet explains the three short eras of excess that are a part of the long era of inequality: The Gilded Age (1870-1900), the Roaring Twenties, and the current era that started in 1980. This booklet details and describes the dominant culture of commerce, materialism, and consumerism as a religionan ultimate concern. For the most part, this religion has been a good onefeeding, clothing, sheltering, and employing millions, at the same time taking many of these from the grip of poverty. This religion, however, has its limits and when it goes too far it breaks bad damaging the common good in the process. The resulting inequality produces a many social problems.
