Megwin, the Green Mantle, has now become Princess Megwin. It is a title that she begins to loath. Her half-brother, Ardin, King of Magra has built a fleet of ships and is preparing to sail to the fabled Green Islands. As the fleet departs, Ardin's queen disappears. Suspecting that Queen Melia might have stowed away to be with her husband, Megwin also becomes an unofficial passenger. During the journey, she encounters the creatures of the deep, lifts a terrible curse and angers the Mantles by breaking one of their fundamental rules. When they reach The Green Islands, they are not what anyone expected.
