"Hearing her name being called, she held her breath, hoping they would pass by and not follow her. Footsteps paused at the door, just before she heard the knob creak as it was turned. She cringed when it slowly opened, but breathed a sigh of relief when he walked in. Closing the door behind him, he slid down next to Jayda and grabbed her hand. "What can I do? Reaching up, he wiped a tear away with his finger that was gliding down her cheek as she answered with one word, "You." Pulling her tightly into his chest, he held her as he rubbed her back, lost in his own guilt. This time she didn't cry harder, she just felt safe, as if she weren't even there anymore, living out this terrible dream." What do you do when your past and present collide together?
