A commemorative, in words and illustrations, of America's involvement in the Great War; or, as it became known later, World War I. The book tells the story of America's reactions to the beginning of the war in 1914; what America was like at that time; and, how the country began to move toward war. The book chronicles America life, year by year, until; finally, President Wilson asks for and the Congress declares war, in April, 1917. The experiences of the "Doughboys" in the war are also covered; plus, the immediate aftermath of the war and its effects of America and her returning veterans.
