Pascual de Andagoya
The publications of the Hakluyt Society (founded in 1846) made available edited (and sometimes translated) early accounts of exploration. This 1865 book contains an account of Spanish exploration around Panama. Andagoya's reports of rich lands to the south led to Pizarro's expedition and the destruction of the Inca civilisation.
