Zoological Philosophy: An Exposition with Regard to the Natural History of Animals - Cambridge Library Collection - Darwin, Evolution and Genetics
Jean Baptiste Pierre Antoine de Monet de Lamarck
In this 1809 book (eventually translated into English in 1914), the great French zoologist Lamarck (1744–1829) outlined his theory that under the pressure of different external circumstances, species can develop variations, and that new species can evolve as a result. His work greatly influenced Charles Darwin.
