Contributor Bio:  Horne, John John Horne is Professor of Sport and Sociology, with the School of Sport, Tourism and the Outdoors, at the University of Central Lancashire, UK. He is the Director of the International Research Institute for Sport Studies (IRiSS) at the same institution. He is author, co-author, editor and co-editor of over 140 books, edited collections, journal articles and book chapters. His books include" Understanding Sport: A Socio-Cultural Analysis, 2nd Edition "(Routledge, 2013), "Understanding the Olympics "(Routledge, 2012), and "Sport in Consumer Culture" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2006). He was selected as a member of the panel for 'Sport and Exercise Sciences, Leisure and Tourism' in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, elected as an Academician of the Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS) in 2012, is convenor of the British Sociological Association Sport Study Group, and is Founding Editor of the 'Globalizing Sport Studies' Book Series.
