Contributor Bio:  Gentz, Friedrich Von Johann Gottlieb Fichte wird 1762 geboren. Nachdem ihm der Schulbesuch noch durch einen Gonner ermoglicht wird, muss er sich das Studium in Jena durch Hauslehrerstellen finanzieren. Die Begegnung mit der Philosophie Kants veranlasst ihn, diesen in Konigsberg aufzusuchen und ihm den Versuch einer Kritik aller Offenbarung vorzulegen. Kant vermittelt hierfur einen Verleger, und das Erscheinen des Werks macht Fichte schlagartig beruhmt. Als auch politischer Denker setzt sich Fichte zunachst fur die Ideale der franzosischen Revolution ein um dann spater vehement gegen die napoleonische Unterdruckung zu kampfen. Mit Fichte als einem der Hauptvertreter des deutschen Idealismus setzen sich insbesondere Schelling und Hegel auseinander. Fichte stirbt 1814 in Berlin an einer Infektionskrankheit.
