Contributor Bio:  Lenormant, Francois Francois Lenormant was born in Paris in 1835, the son of Charles Lenormant (1802-1859), and followed in his father's footsteps as an archaeologist and classical historian. He was a member of several learned societies, acting as Deputy Librarian of L'Institut de France and later being elected a member of L'Academie Francaise. Lenormant died in 1883.
