Oceans of Love: to Us from Us
Delores King-freeman
Delores King-Freeman voices deep love for her people in these poems. Her utmost belief is that love for self is the fundamental key to the survival and revival of a people grossly wronged, demeaned, dehumanized and partially destroyed. Her passionate plea is for universal love. Her words are powerful and thought-provoking; some informative; some sympathetic; some stimulating; some frank and to the point; some highlight the real deal on self-love; some talk to what is owed to us; some make it known that we owe much to ourselves; some are fun loving; but all echo the black experience. Delores emphasizes our ancestors are yet watching-hoping to see signs of victory over hatred imbedded within us during those inhumane slavery years. She states each generation is an investment in life, as the lives of our fore fathers influence ours today; and our evolution will be the foundation for our heirs. Each person has a duty to live, love and leave a legacy. The poems can be of great benefit - touching, healing, awakening, and soothing. They encourage involvement. All can enjoy life's journey, even though a risk . . . a tumultuous sea of ups and downs . . . it is yet a necessity. Enjoy the ride!
