The Poet's Sanctuary
Michael Dunn
At the age of 20, Michael Dunn with his first collection The Poet?s Sanctuary hopes to show the depth of the so-called "MTV Generation." With poems covering a variety of topics, he goes from questioning to introspective, but always remains honest. His voice carries a blend of both maturity and youthful energy, for example: with the title poem, "Poet?s Sanctuary," Michael speaks not only upon the complexities of relationships, but that of art and the artist. The poem, "Secret Admirer," sings of romance and longing while moving between the languages of Spanish and English. Also included are two short stories, "Cruelty" and "The Stranger" showcasing his abilities as a storyteller as well. "Cruelty," a short one page humorous take on school and "The Stranger" about a lonely wanderer with a dark secret. After reading the collection, the author hopes that readers of all ages will be able to take something away from the experience.
