The Harbour of Sebastos in Its Roman Mediterranean Context (Bar International Series)
Michal Artzy
This monograph provides an overview of the extensive archaeological work undertaken by the late Avner Raban and his team over many years at Sebastos (Caesarea Maritima). It presents the evidence for the structures of the harbour as it was in the Roman period and compares this with what we know of other Mediterranean harbours. It also traces the development of the harbour and the volume of trade which passed through it, as well as the constant struggle to prevent the port from silting up and its eventual decline and abondonment.
