Geoarchaeology of Lebanon's Ancient Harbours (British Archaeological Reports British Series) Nick Marriner
Geoarchaeology of Lebanon's Ancient Harbours (British Archaeological Reports British Series)
Nick Marriner
This volume applies the latest geoscience techniques to the harbours of Beirut, Sidon and Tyre, all of which have been in use since the third millennium BC. Marriner uses coastal stratigraphy and underwater archaeological data to reconstruct the locations of ancient anchorages, and to map changes, both natural and man-made in the coasts and harbours back to the holocene. The conclusion proposes models of human interaction with the coastal environment from the Bronze Age to the present.
