The Dispersal of the Neolithic over the Arabian Peninsula (British Archaeological Reports British Series) Philipp Drechsler
The Dispersal of the Neolithic over the Arabian Peninsula (British Archaeological Reports British Series)
Philipp Drechsler
This report takes as its starting point excavations by the author at Buhais-18 at the southeastern tip of the Arabian peninsula which yielded considerable evidence for the domestication of sheep, cattle and goats in the 6th millennium cal BC. In studying the origins of this Neolithisation Dreschler reassesses all of the existing archaeological research on the region, and argues for a Levantine origin for the Arabian Neolithic. Using GIS, and mapping climatic changes, he proposes two possible dispersal routes out of the Levant.
