This collection of short stories, anecdotes and pictures, dating back to the early 1900's, sets out part of the history of the settlement of Healey Lake and of some of the first settlers on its shoreline. As well, it acknowledges many of the present members of the Healey Lake community that chose to give their stories. Many families of the first "pioneers" are into their fourth generation and these descendants are enjoying the Lake and the cottages built by their great-grandparents. As so many of the properties are passing on to the next generation, it is important to preserve these histories. Not only will this book be of interest to newcomers, but it is for these new generations; that they may remember how their "ancestors," with hard work and humour, with their love of this land and water, overcame the difficulties and challenges in accessing the lake and in building their cottages and homes so that they also could enjoy the peace and beauty of Healey Lake and maintain its integrity. It is with pleasure that we pass on these interesting tales and, as you read them, we hope you too will do so with the same interest and enjoyment.
