The Day The Pelican Spoke is the story of Jose, a young fisherman, living in a small isolated fishing community on the Yucatan Peninsula. His village is in trouble because they depend on sardines to fertilize their vegetable gardens and none can be found. One day, Jose helps an old pelican tangled in a descarded fishing net. The pelican shares a secret with Jose, which may save his village from starvation, if Jose has the courage to do what the pelican asks. This is a story about compassion, trust, bravery and the importance of promise keeping.
