Emily and Hurricane Isabel
Dana Phipps
Hurricane Isabel caused havoc all the way up the U. S. eastern coastline in September, 2003. It became a tropical storm when it hit Bowleys Quarters, Maryland. Eight-year-old Emily and her mom, residents of Bowleys Quarters, lived right on the waters of Frog Mortar Creek. Together with their neighbor, Toad, they faced the storm as it ravaged their home and community. Emily and her mom found out how very quickly their lives were turned upside down in a single night. They had to persevere and try to find the necessary resources to bring some sense of normalcy back into their lives.
