Evelyn Kelly is a native Mississippian who lives in Dallas, Texas. She graduated Cum Laude from Bishop College and later earned her Master of Public Administration from Texas A&M (Commerce). She is currently enrolled in Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. She attributes much of her educational success to the wisdom of her mother and teachers at Rowan Junior High and Lanier High School in Jackson, Mississippi. She is the mother of two adult children and grandmother of two. FEEL LIKE SHOUTIN' is Kelly's first publication of poems however, she has been writing for over seven years. This gutsy publication brings together the diverse style of poetry writing that gives voice to issues and ideas that most leave unsaid. With the same indomitable fire and ease, Kelly writes about love and her frank assessment of society while bellowing verses that confirm a special engaging relationship with God. She shouts about her concern for mankind. Her gutsy style is far more evident in her poetry reading performances at Dallas area venues that include the Cosmopolitan Bistro, Jokae's Bookstore, and private social gatherings. She is an active member of the local literary organization, Writer's Block Incorporated and one of the featured authors in the organization's soon to be published compilation of African American Literature.
