Love affairs, under the best of circumstances, can have moments of intense stress. When one adds a mixture of military assignments and a distance half-way around the world, tender feelings between two lovers can become fragile and tenuous. Poignantly, "A Soldier's Letters", tells of such a relationship while also describing the military experiences in this country and the unique, colorful, and seductive oriental country of Japan. Although these letters were written more than a half century ago, the depicted struggle of two lovers' pursuit of happiness is as relevant today as it was then during the Korean conflict.
