Hell and Heaven Revisited is the fourth book in an autobiographical series written by Fred S. "Fritz" Bertsch, now retired from his career as a naval officer and from his second career as an educator. He writes in intimate detail about the tragic, lingering death of his first wife, Lory, due to Alzheimer's disease. As the signs of her disease became more and more prevalent, he made drastic changes in his life to care for her. He recounts their final road trip, taken at the suggestion of his wife's doctor as a last chance for her to travel. His resulting depression throws his life into a downhill spiral that is finally lifted by his developing relationship with a widowed neighbor named Dottie. As their relationship grows, they realize that they are meant to spend their lives together, and they decide to marry. Bertsch lovingly recounts the events leading up to their marriage and the great adventures in travel that follow. They take up residence in a remote Pennsylvania valley; finally, as the years pass by, they make the decision to reside in a continuing care retirement community. Including remembrances of friends and family who have passed on and sage advice for their grandchildren, Bertsch's fourth autobiographical volume continues the tale of his full and interesting life.
