Calico: Welcome to Our New Nation
Ernest Smith
HerbertSavon didn't volunteer to be a martyr, he was chosen. In 2009 his world wasturned upside down when Washington D. C. was bombed by a white supremacy group. He was displaced to Calverton, Virginia also known as "Calico" which wouldbecome our new nation's capitol. With a new place to live, came a new set ofrules to live by. The Constitution wasre-written and it was not designed to protect nor benefit its citizens. Lawlessness and police brutality grew. Church bombings and lynchings becamedaily occurrences as "white power" became more of a force to reckon with. People protested this treatment and they were cut down by fire hoses andgunfire that caused the country toregress to the days of the civil rights movement. America's madness landed on Herbert Savon's door step. He responded, and his actions sent shock wavesfrom Calico to California.
