This is a story about John and Mary born and brought up in Glasgow, Scotland. John is a Protestant and Mary is a Catholic.

John is the youngest son of John and Agnes Wilson a die hard Protestant family. John's mother refused to recognise that John was an academically gifted child. John was totally different from his brothers, he was a gentle and kind person.

Mary is the youngest daughter of Pat and Josie O'Riley a die hard Catholic family. Mary's mother was a very bitter Catholic. Mary had a very unhappy upbringing. Mary's father was a very gentle man not like her mother or her four brothers.

Despite all the hardships John and Mary had to endure in their relationship they remained together until the end.
