Averill Lowe is teaching fourth grade in Chattanooga when a stranger offers her a job in his factory which has begun to turn out armaments for coming war with Nazi Germany. This war, World War II, has already begun in Europe where England is fighting the Nazi conquerors of Western Europe all alone. Eager to be able to help this war effort, she takes the job as secretary and assistant to Reife Braddock. She finds herself, against her will, falling for a man who does not have God as the center of his life and feels she must not commit to this love.
Their work requires they travel to Cairo, Egypt on the heels of a traitor who has stolen plans from the Braddock factory. When Reife is kidnapped and held ransom, she must call upon all her human and Divine resources to find him before he is killed. In doing so she encounters an unexpected traitor, a scientist who falls in love with her and is highly persuasive, and a surprising secret English agent which few readers will see coming. Through it all Averill stays true to what is important, manages to have high adventure, and finds true love.
