When Amy Anne had been home just a few weeks, Mandy went in to see why she had not heard Amy Anne waking yet. It was past her usual waking-up time. When she entered the nursery, she knew she was experiencing a parent's worst nightmare. The crib was empty, and she knew her husband Nicky was still sleeping. They were the only ones in the house. Even more frightening was the fact that the curtains were blowing out the window. The window was opened, and the screen was not there. Amy Anne was gone.
