This is the story of Sandra Williams, who is stranded on campus for Christmas by a crippling snowstorm. She and her roommate almost hit a homeless woman while trying to return to thier dorm. Sandra, guilty about the attitude of her roomate toward the old woman and her own conflicted feelings about Christmas commercialism and the true meaning of Christmas, sets out on foot to find the homeless woman. She ends up spending the night with her in her makeshift home in an old abandoned mill, a life changing experience that influences Sandra's life forever.
