It was written by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost by various writers over centuries, culminating with the New Testament written in the years after Jesus Christ. After this the Church decided which books were and which were not truly inspired and compiled the former into the Bible, producing the Vulgate. And here is a history of the Vulgate Gospels.
