She advances in her own career travelling in Eastern Europe with an international non-profit organization until she meets and subsequently marries a Russian astrophysicist student, Dimitri. Lauren steps back from her career as Dimitri is accepted to Harvard Business School where she begins to lose her own identity as a Harvard wife.
