On Friday, July 15th, 1994, a shocking double homicide occurs at the opulent Malibu beach house of screenwriter, John Mallory. Mallory's wife and writing collaborator, Dianne, and a handsome actor, Derek Ramsey, are making love, when suddenly an unidentified intruder enters the master bedroom, and both are shot to death. An intense police investigation follows, led by Detective Lt. Joe Kellermann, his partner Tony Rodriguez, and their unrelenting supervisor, Captain Frank DeFalco. The prime suspects in the case include John Mallory, who has no substantial alibi for his whereabouts on the night of the murders, and Nick Palermo, a suspected hit-man with Vegas Mob connections. Cheryl Hunter, who was Ramsey's ex-lover and who was dumped a week before their proposed wedding date becomes a third suspect. The detectives find themselves entangled in a baffling case of lies, infidelity, greed, blackmail...and murder-for-hire...
