The program of behavioral, cognitive and emotional reinforcement is explained along with descriptive conversation in order to illustrate the essential components of the program. The book describes how to maintain trust and stability despite the debilitating symptoms and manifestations of progressive dementia. The author is a Clinical Psychologist who learned and practiced principles of reinforcement as they apply to those with compromised cognitive and emotional abilities. Having applied the principles to her own husband's disease, the author was able to maintain an environment of stability and trust as both patient and caretaker made their way through the various stages of dementia.
