John Atkinson Hobson (1858 - 1940) was an English social scientist and economist most famous for his work on imperialism-which notably had an influence on Vladimir Lenin-as well as his theory of underconsumption. His early work also questioned the classical theory of rent and predicted the Neoclassical "marginal productivity" theory of distribution. First published in 1915, "The Economics of Reparation" constitutes a detailed analysis of the economics of war reparations, with a particular focus on German reparations following WWI and the treaty of Versailles in particular. This fascinating volume is highly recommended for those with an interest in economics or history, especially that which is related to the world wars. Contents include: "Reparation in the Versailles Treaty", "The Paris Demands", "Capacity to Pay", "Allied Obstacles to Reparations", and "The Export Surplus". Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with the essay "Reparations and Inter-Allied Debt" by John Maynard Keynes.
