In 2048, Emily's diary transports sixty-five year old August Smith's mind to happier times. In her 2009 journal, Emily Kendall writes that her first trip to the United States is not as smooth as she would like, and lack of coffee is not helping matters. Regardless, she endeavors to meet August in person after a year-long friendship, courtesy of a support chat room. Love, doubt, enlightenment, and some surprising magical events intertwine and thread through her incredible journey. A time-travelling willow tree takes the couple on adventures Emily could only dream of, but there are some parts of her own adventure she would prefer to forget.
