The last hour of Mikhail's Bulgakov life . He is lying on his deathbed, hallunicating. His wife, Hellen, is doing her best to facilitate his pain. Followed by the constant threat they are being spied by the Soviet authorities, a strange visitor is in their house. The physician, who is supposed to alleviate his agony, is quite awkward. The destroyed character from the novel appears in order to visit the old man. However, at the same time, he is one of those authorities, the one who isn, t real, as a matter of fact. He is tne dissident, caused by his fears. During the last hour before his death, Bulgakov recalls all he has created and destroyed. The doctor is playing the devil's game with Mikhail's wife, Hellen, tempting herdevotedness and love . What matters is whether his manuscript is burning or it is preserved by love or not.
