The book begins by revealing that Ana is the new master of Avonlea school, but still continued his studies at home with Gilbert, who teaches at White Sands, a town near Avonlea. Soon we will know the new and problematic neighbor Anna and Marilla, Mr. Harrison and his irritating parrot, as well as the Davy and Dora twins. The twins are the children of a distant cousin of Marilla, who decides to adopt them after the death of his mother. Dora is a nice and extremely correct girl, while his brother Davy is a great troublemaker than ever for getting into trouble. Some other new characters, many of the students of Ana, including Paul Irving, a child with a vivid imagination that immediately succeeds Ana dazzle.
