These poems were found hidden in Thoreau's Walden, waiting to be distilled and given shape. This book is much more than one man's personal response to a masterpiece. Insofar as poetry is revelation, this work is the result of confluence between a dead writer and a live poet. And insofar as poetry is essence, Alfred Cahen has tried to bottle only the purest Walden water, that which Thoreau's soul bathed in.
