The author is a poet, scientist and humanitarian Christian. Born in Rome, educated in Hounslow and then Ealing, West London. Subsequently going up to London University to study medicine before gaining a Masters from Surrey and practical teaching experience from Kingston Polytechnic. Early years located so near to Heathrow's Hatton Cross, engendered a fascination for 'flying' that transposed into poetical imagery: 'flights of fancy'...so to speak! Father to two amazing, (now adult), graduate linguists, he is a passionate European and autodidact of the History of Medicine. A psychologist and a previously trained counsellor for 'victims of crime', for ten years he also acted as a local community, trained Scout Leader ('old Akela'), as well as an occasional teacher he had completed 15 cycling marathons, three London to Windsor cycle treks and some abseiling and other sponsored events for Cancer Research charity fundraising . Currently a full-time florist delivery driver, he meets lots of lovely people locally, all day long. (ii)'This is what Giles Goodland, OED Senior Editorial Researcher, Oxford University, (and fellow Ealing based poet) said of a sample of this poetry: "Reading a Lewis Hill poem is like tuning into the English language, a twist of the dial brings you from the bantering voice of a punning sports commentator to what is being whispered a sentence away by someone who knows, (that) you know, and then you find yourself somewhere else completely, and it is your own back door. I recommend this book to all lovers of poetry, language, deep feeling....and puns." '
