The Art of Letters Robert Lynd
The Art of Letters
Robert Lynd
A Victorian-era book of essays, and it's an uneven collection. The best one is about Walpole, and it's really quite good. Also worth reading are essays about Pepys, Shelley, Coleridge, Morris, Meredith, the Elizabethan Plays, and the section on Two English Critics. The other entries are weaker. As for the latter, I would be happy if no critic ever wrote about Bunyan or Donne again.
