"The Right Thing to Do: Kit Saunders-Nordeen and the Rise of Women's Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Wisconsin and Beyond" is a biography of the first women's athletic director at UW, who also was a prominent national figure as vice president of the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women. But it's much more than a biography of Kit. It traces the difficult battle women had to simply be allowed to compete in athletics, including the passage of the historic Title IX gender equity legislation. The 50th anniversary of Title IX is in 2022.
