Annabelle M. Armstrong
Since she was sixteen, Annabelle Armstrong has been writing for newspapers, first in her hometown of Greenville, Mississippi, with the renowned publisher-editor Hodding Carter Jr. and later with the Advocate in Baton Rouge. After taking early retirement in 1986, she began writing across the area as a freelancer. In her sixth decade of journalism, a resident of Baton Rouge who has earned numerous journalistic awards, she continues to share subjects and sites with readers. A graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and recipient of its Alumni Distinguished Service Award, she works part time at the Louisiana State Archives. She is deeply grateful to her son, Kenny, and daughter, Delma, and for countless neighborhood leaders and historians for assisting with this project.
