A pocket guide that offers insightful, plainspoken, expert advice for every fly...

Marc Notes: Includes bibliographical references and index. Publisher Marketing: Two highly respected outdoor journalists, Kirk Deeter of "Field & Stream" and Charlie Meyers of the "Denver Post, " have cracked open their notebooks and shared straight-shot advice on the sport of fly fishing, based on a range of new and old experiences--from interviews with the late Lee Wulff to travels with maverick guides in Tierra del Fuego. The mission of "The Little Red Book of Fly Fishing" is to demystify and un-complicate the tricks and tips that make a great trout fisher. There are no complicated physics lessons here. Rather, conceived in the "take dead aim" spirit of Harvey Penick's classic instructional on golf, "The Little Red Book of Fly Fishing" offers a simple, digestible primer on the basic elements of fly fishing: the cast, presentation, reading water, and selecting flies. In the end, this collection of 240 tips is one of the most insightful, plainly spoken, and entertaining works on this sport--one that will serve both novices and experts alike in helping them reflect and hone in their approaches to fly fishing.

Contributor Bio:  Deeter, Kirk Rod Hamilton has been an avid fly fisher for more than forty years-chasing salmon, trout and steelhead from his home base in British Columbia, Canada during the summer, and flats species in the tropics during the winter. Through his website, diyflatsfishing.com, and blog, diybonefishing.com, he shares his passion for catching bonefish and permit on the fly with like-minded fly fishermen from around the world. In addition to the book and his online outlets, he writes for a variety of magazines and is currently working on a DIY bonefishing video and his next book on tropical fly fishing. Contributor Bio:  Meyers, Charlie Charlie Meyers is the outdoors editor for the Denver Post and has been covering various fishing and hunting angles for that newspaper since 1966. He is editor-at-large for Angling Trade. He has also contributed a great many fishing-related stories to magazines including Field & Stream, Outdoor Life, Fly Fisherman, Flyfishing in Salt Waters, Southwest Fly Fishing, The Drake, and many others. He lives in Golden, Colorado.
