Determined to support her young girls and be successful in a male-dominated utility industry, she was a trailblazer with significant and unique challenges. Ultimately these challenges and her determination for success led to two untimely pregnancies, which she chose to end by abortion.

In the years that followed, the sacrifices Deborah had made on her self-centered, destructive path became too much to bear. She learned that each decision she made had far-reaching consequences and that the only healing for the pain and shame she endured as a result of ending two pregnancies was through God's abundant grace.
